How long does a Direct Access motorcycle course take?
Our Direct Access (DAS) Motorcycle training courses in London are typically run over 3 days. This allows us suffiecient time to train you to pass both the Module 1 & Module 2 practical tests.
What is direct access bike test?
Taking the Direct access bike test scheme means you’ll have a full motorcycle licence and will have no restriction on the size of machine you can ride. You can get your full motorcycle licence using the direct access scheme if you are a minimum of 24 years old.
What bike can I ride after direct access?
The direct access route AM licence (allowing you to ride a 50cc bike) if you are 16 or over. A1 licence (allowing you to ride a 125cc bike) if you are 17 or over. A2 licence (limiting you to a bike up to 35kw) if you are 19 and over. A licence (allowing you to ride any bike of any sized engine) if you are 24 or over.
How long does a DAS course take?
3 to 5 days
DAS courses, regardless of the licence level you are aiming to achieve, last anywhere from 3 to 5 days. DAS courses take you through all the necessary theory associated with riding a motorcycle safely and legally as well as the practical elements of balance, turning, stopping, etc.
Do I need a CBT to do direct access?
Direct Access – you must be at least 24 years old, have a valid CBT certificate (only if you do not have full entitlement to A1 or A2) and pass the theory and category A practical motorcycle tests.
How much does a DAS course cost?
It will cost you between £159 and £189. It will take you all day. You need to either hold a UK driving license (provisional is fine) or a EU driving license that has been registered with DVLA(Form D9). If you have an old style paper driving license you would need a photo ID with it.
Can you go straight to direct access?
Over the age of 24 you can go straight to the unrestricted DAS (Direct Access Scheme) course. If you choose the DAS course it means that you can learn to ride and take your tests on a larger powered motorcycle of at least 600cc (over 40kW).
What bike can I ride with a full car Licence UK?
Yes, if you have a full car licence you can ride a 125cc scooter or motorbike. However, you must take and pass your compulsory basic training (CBT) before riding on the road. With a completed CBT, you can ride a 125cc motorcycle on the road with L plates.
Can I ride a 125 on a car licence?
Once you have passed your Practical Test, you will have a licence to ride any machine of up to 125cc, so long as it’s power is restricted to 11kW, without L-plates and you may carry a pillion passenger.
What bike should I use for my direct access test?
When doing your Direct Access tests, you must use a bike that is over 54BHP or 40kW. This is generally around the 600cc mark. Your chosen motorcycle school will train you on a bike with the correct power rating. If in doubt about any particular bike, the manufacturer’s website will give a full breakdown of each model’s specifications.
