Most dual access safes can not be opened with just the key. This is done to control who can get into the safe at any time. Some safes will allow access to deposit with only one of the access modes, but it takes both the key and combination to take out the deposit.

Where are the serial numbers on a Sentry Safe?
Locate your safe’s model and serial numbers. If you have access to the instruction manual, look at the card on the back to locate all of the numbers. If you don’t have the manual or lost the card with the information, look around the body of the safe near the hinge or on the side to locate the numbers printed on it.
