When a Sure Safe has dead batteries, you will need to open the safe with the manual override key. That way you have access to the batteries. Or if the batteries are not inside the safe in your model, then you slide the cover (which should be near the electronic keypad) that is over them open, take the old ones out and insert the new ones.

Almost every digital saf e (cheapie or not) has a safeguard built into the circuit board which allows the circuit board to remember the code even when the battery is dead for a very long time (ie several years). If you can simply install new batteries and input the correct code and you’re in.

What kind of batteries do I need for my SentrySafe safe?
Most digital lock problems are related to low, dead or Non-Alkaline batteries. For all SentrySafe models, we recommend the following: Refrain from using rechargeable or Non-Alkaline batteries. Use quality name brand batteries. All batteries have expiration dates on them. Ensure those dates are as close to 10 years out from current year as possible.
