Why does the igniter on my gas stove keep clicking?

A normally functioning igniter will typically click up to three times before it sparks. But, every now and then you may run into instances where the ignitor continues to click or tick even after the burner is lit, or the burner never lights at all.

Take the vent cover off (quick release) and use a long handled gas lighter (like the BBQ ones) with gas turned on, and flash the gas lighter at the igntion point tubeto ignite the gas flow. Replace cover and it works.

Won’t work on the gas, or more to the point, the ignition button isn’t working, so in order to find out if it will work if I can get it lit, is there a place/way I can ignite the pilot manually? The problem may have occurred due to water getting all over the top of the workings some time back- it will still work on 240 and 12v. Thanks!
