How big of a breaker do I need for a generator?

Just need to run bare essentials in the minimal lights, most LED, refer and small chest freezer. I bought a15000 watts generator, what size wire and breaker do i need to install my generator to my electrical panel

Can You backfeed a generator through a 30amp breaker?

I have the stuff to backfeed my generator through a 30amp breaker. I have the lockout kit that prevents both the breaker and main from being on at the same time. My question is this: My generator is strong enough to run a 50 amp and a 30 amp cord at the same time. Can I backfeed them both into the box at the same time?

Can a larger circuit breaker be used on an air conditioner?

Thich typically happens because an air conditioner is replaced with a more efficient unit, but the circuit breaker in the panel is not replaced with a smaller one. If the electrical disconnect at the exterior has fuses that are sized appropriately, however, then it would be acceptable to have a circuit breaker that is oversized.

What should voltage be on generator while running?

Making sure the readout selector on the Control Panel was set to the correct setting (single phase, 110/220 volt). This MUST match the Phase Selector Switch. You can play with this while the unit is running. You would want the voltage meter to read 240 volt and the frequency meter to read 60 Hz (corresponding to an engine speed of 1800 rpms).

Can a central AC run off a portable generator?

I installed a “hard start kit” on the AC which basically reduces the starting demand of the compressor. If you want to rough in something for future use, I would reccomend a factory interlock on the main panel connected to a 50 Amp inlet.

Can a generator be started after master switch is held?
