You can fit a smart thermostat to your boiler. Basically, when your home has a central heating system, whether oil-fired, LPG or gas, your full set of temperature controls need to include a room thermostat, a boiler thermostat, a timer or programmer, and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs).

How does the thermostat on a Potterton Performa work?
We are controlling CH temperature by temperature controller available on the boiler. It does do the job but when the flame is off as CH is heated over the set temperature, the water is keeping circulating in CH system. So the flame turns on/off and adjust the temperature but water circulation never stops. I guess this is pretty standard.
Are there any problems with the Potterton profile boiler?
A relatively common issue with older Potterton boiler models such as the Potterton Promax, Suprima and Profile models is an issue where the heating works but there is no hot water. A similar, but slightly less common problem is the other way round with hot water working but no central heating.
Can a external thermostat work with an internal timer?
An external thermostat should work OK with the internal timer. It depends if you want the advantages of having programmable temperatures through the day which the programmable stat gives you. Sorry I misread it.

Can I install wireless thermostat for my Potterton Combi?
Hi. Yes it is completely possible. You can have pretty much any wireless thermostat with a recent Potterton boiler. There are also integrated versions that are really easy to install. Search for a salus RT500BC they are integrated with all potterton/baxi/main boilers and really easy to install. Hope this helps.
