There are no lifeguards on the beach. The ocean currents are strong and dangerous no matter the time of tide. You cannot swim against the currents. RECOMMEND wearing a life jacket when playing near the water’s edge.

Do you need a license to go clam digging? Yes. Interested diggers can purchase licenses online at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov. Ace Hardware is the only vendor inside Ocean Shores and tends to get very busy during clam digs.
Is La Push dog friendly?
LaPush is a haven for surfers, anglers and dogs. Dogs are allowed on First Beach because it is outside of the Olympic National Park boundaries and because LaPush is in the Quileute Reservation, there are no leash laws. We leash our dogs when others are approaching, even if their dogs are unleashed.

Dogs are allowed on the beaches as long as they are on leashes. The park also has seven miles of dog-friendly hiking trails through old-growth forest and saltwater marshes. When you are outside of city limits, the leash law is not generally enforced, so you can allow your well-behaved dog to run free along the beach.
