We welcome accompanied dogs on ALL our ferries, FREE of charge. There is no need to pre-book or obtain a ticket. We are also pleased to provide a designated pet lounge, complete with bowls of water, in the North Lounge on board Red Osprey, Red Falcon and Red Eagle.
Can you take dogs on the Red Jet?
1) Dogs (and pets carried in suitable RSPCA approved containers) can now travel free of charge on the Red Jet Hi-Speed service. 2) On the passenger vehicle ferry service, dogs can travel in a designated area of the main passenger lounge on B Deck – this is in addition to the pet area on A Deck.

All of our vehicle ferries are wheelchair friendly and are fitted with lifts between all 3 decks – the car deck, the passenger lounges and the promenade deck, so you can take in the sea air.

Dogs & Pets Pets can travel free of charge on the hovercraft. To allow for ‘calls of nature’, customers are recommended to allow sufficient time to exercise their pet before boarding the hovercraft.

On a clear day, they can amble on the car ferries’ outer decks and when the weather is not so good they can enjoy the short crossing inside the ferries’ dedicated pet areas.

In some circumstances, we may be able to allow an exception and permit up to four vehicles on select sailing times to remain occupied on the vehicle deck. Once we receive your request, a member of our team will be in touch to make arrangements and confirm if your ‘stay in vehicle’ exemption request has been approved.
Can you smoke on Red Funnel Ferries?
In accordance with the statutory ban on smoking in public areas, Red Funnel enforces a No Smoking policy inside all its terminal areas and inside its vessels. The only exception is the designated smoking area on ‘A deck’ (outside deck) of the Passenger Vehicle Ferries where smoking and vaping is permitted.
