Much like your new pair of shoes, new speakers need time to “break in”, and will not sound best until they do. The components making up the speaker’s suspension are primarily what changes during break-in. As the speaker is used, the spider and cone surround begin losing some of their initial stiffness.

Do speakers get louder as they break in?

Turn the speakers up a little louder than you normally would will help loosen up the material. Not all speakers will sound dramatically different after break-in. Some improve only marginally, while others can change dramatically. Either way, it’s likely that you’ll notice an improvement.

Is 1 ohm or 2 ohm subwoofer better?

At 1 ohm, you will get more power output from your amplifier and your subwoofers will play louder than if you wired them to a 2 ohm load. You can also save some money by wiring your subwoofers to a 1 ohm load.

Why is my Windows 7 speaker not working?

It’s possible that since the red x on the volume icon indicates a problem with the sound device drivers, the internal speaker may have been disabled when the external speakers are plugged in. Disconnect both the speakers and the headphones. Check with the manufacturer of the installed sound device for updated Windows 7 compatible drivers.
