How does a floating weir work?

Water pours over a floating weir that allows debris to enter. When the pump is shut off and the suction stops, the weir floats into a vertical position, which prevents debris from floating back into the pool. The basket collects leaves and larger pieces of debris, allowing you to remove them easily.

Is there a foam bumper for the weir door?

The weir door comes with a little foam bumper but in my opinion this little foam bumper is not needed and falls off after a few months of being in the water on the door so I threw this part away overall great product good replacement. It works!!

Is the Hayward Weir assembly replacement a counterfeit?

Either Hayward has changed the plastic to save $ or this is a counterfeit item. I was about to order a 4th, but I think I will go to the local Leslies and get it. If it is a Hayward production problem, it too will quickly break. If it is because these are counterfeit, it will have been worth the extra $ to get a genuine product
