It takes about 2 hours to reach the summit of the Cuilcagh Mountain walk. Once you reach the top of the boardwalk there are two possible ways to hike down the Mountain, both varying in lenght. The quickest and easiest way, is to return in the same direction as you hiked up, along the boardwalk.

Is Cuilcagh Boardwalk difficult?
It is rated as ‘difficult’ in the mountain walk guides, so be prepared for a good hike whenever you get there. You will cross 5 fences on the road up to the boardwalk, which has stiles to the side of them for ease of access. While the walk is a bit tough, once you reach the boardwalk it is all worth it.
Is there toilets at the Stairway to Heaven?
Also be aware, there are no toilets once you leave the car park, and no food kiosk at any point (although there is a cafe at the Visitor Centre of the Marble Arch Caves, which you could visit on your way home).

How hard is the stairway to heaven hike?
Although it is legal, it is still a tough hike. There are multiple sections with rope climbs and very steep, muddy ascents. Once you reach the top you can walk down the stairs and get some cool photos. In fact, you can go quite a far way down the stairs because the guards and police usually only wait at the bottom.
