How much power does a Cummins Rambler have?

I should have mentioned in my post regarding the 5.9 190hp Cummins in my 35′ Holiday Rambler that it does have a 6-speed Allison transmission. How is power boosted, with a chip or valve timing, I mean what is done to boost power. I’ll take the advice to drive it first before doing anything at all. Thanks for the replies.

How many horsepower does a Cummins 5.9 6BT have?

My ’94 5.9 6BT is rated at 230 HP with the Allison MT643 4 speed. I would not be surprised that the OPs is a 230 HP cause that was pretty much what they were rated at for the motorhome engine. I would not push it any more, cause the 5.9 6BT gets good fuel mileage if the coach isn’t to heavy.

How do you reinstall an Allison Transmission coach?

Push the dip stick up the tube and retrieve it (or have your assistant do it– many will volunteer to do that part in exchange for an adult beverage). Slip on the new O ring (s) and reinstall. As always when working under a coach, be sure you have safety stands in place before going under the coach.
