What happens when coolant is never in the radiator?
What happens when coolant is never in the radiator?
This will only add insult to injury! When coolant never has a chance to give up heat via the radiator, it gets hotter and hotter, especially if you’re stuck in traffic. And even on the open road, coolant never has a chance to park in the radiator long enough to give up heat energy to the atmosphere. Never operate your engine without a thermostat!
Why does the lower radiator not need an anti-collapse spring?
Because the lower radiator hose channels coolant to the water pump and engine, it is susceptible to negative pressure and collapse at high rpm. The anti-collapse spring prevents that from happening. One hose manufacturer says you don’t need the anti-collapse spring because it was used only for factory-fill purposes.
Can a radiator be removed without draining system?
Click to expand… Yes, any drain off point on heating system will do, or remove a wee radiator and drain from a rad valve if no drain points. If the f&e tank is full of sludge you would be best to clean it out, rather than draining and drawing it into system.
How to add an inhibitor to a towel radiator?
Your other option seeing you have a towel radiator is to use that. Turn off both valves to the towel radiator, remove one of the caps at the top, use a hose to siphon out enough water and then pour your inhibitor in. (pouring in the inhibitor is much easier if you remove both caps btw). Replace caps, open valves and job done.
Is it normal for radiator not to come on?
At this time of the year, there really is no bigger home heating-related nightmare than the central heating not working or a radiator not coming on (and trust me, I know, because as I write this my boiler is on the blink and I have to wait 3 DAYS until Baxi will send someone out to it).
Why is the thermostat on the upstairs landing?
It is so that there is always somewhere for the water to be pumped through in the system so that it is ready if you were to turn up one of the other radiators. Otherwise the pump could sieze. Our thermostat is on the upstairs landing, which is where the boiler is.
