What is SmartRider and how does it work?

SmartRider is a reusable smart card, which allows easy, hassle free travel on Transperth services. We offer concession fares including free off-peak travel and recognise the Companion Card. Who is eligible for a standard SmartRider card?

Automatic 10 per cent discount off the cash fare. Who is eligible for a Standard SmartRider? There’s nothing wrong with being “standard”. Most of our passengers use this type of SmartRider and take advantage of its savings. If you pay full fare without any type of concession, this is the card to get.

How do I check the balance on my SmartRider card?

Help Simply enter your nine digit SmartRider number found on your card and click “Show Balance”. Your SmartRider card balance will be displayed, along with Autoload and concession expiry if applicable. *Note: Balance may not include transactions that have occurred within the last two days.

How do I top up my Transperth SmartRider?

Top up your SmartRider with Autoload. Set up Autoload and receive a 20 per cent discount off most fares. Autoload is an automatic direct debit that tops up your card when it falls below a certain amount. Autoload can be activated by logging into Transperth’s My Account. You can add a card in the bottom left under My SmartRider.

Can I protect my unregistered SmartRider card?

Unfortunately there’s no protection for unregistered cards. The process is usually the same as obtaining your initial SmartRider card, although it differs from one type of SmartRider to another. To find out about your type of card go to SmartRider Types.

What is a concession SmartRider card?

If you hold a valid concession entitlement but are not covered by one of the other types of SmartRider card then the Concession SmartRider card is your ticket for cheaper travel. You may have only one valid Concession SmartRider in your name at any one time.
