How is Celadonite formed?
Celadonite is formed in or from basalts or gabbros at low or medium (low-grade metamorphism, probably below 250 °C) temperatures. Here the key to mineral origin seems to be the presence of basic rocks, which are silica poor and low in potassium.
Where is glauconite found?
Glauconite forms under reducing conditions in sediments and such deposits are commonly found in nearshore sands, open oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. Glauconite remains absent in fresh-water lakes, but is noted in shelf sediments of the western Black Sea.
What is montmorillonite used for?
The important functional utilization of montmorillonite includes food additive for health and stamina, for antibacterial activity against tooth and gum decay, as sorbent for nonionic, anionic, and cationic dyes, and the use as catalyst in organic synthesis.
Where is Vivianite found?
Vivianite crystals are often found inside fossil shells, such as those of bivalves and gastropods, or attached to fossil bone.
What is glauconite made of?
Glauconite forms by three principal processes: alteration of the fecal pellets of bottom-dwelling organisms; modification of particles of illitic and biotitic clays by seawater; and direct precipitation from seawater. Particles of glauconite are generally sand-sized or finer.
What is the meaning of glauconite?
Definition of glauconite : a mineral consisting of a dull green earthy iron potassium silicate occurring in greensand.
Is bentonite the same as montmorillonite?
Montmorillonite clays and Bentonite clays are one and the same thing. All types of Bentonite clays are grouped together under the Montmorillonite or Smectite group of clays. To speak of one is to speak of the other. Montmorillonite was named after its discovery locality, Montmorillon, France in the 1800’s.
Is montmorillonite good for your face?

Is calcite a crystal?
This clear rhombahedral crystal is calcium carbonate, a compound of calcium and carbon. It exists in three different mineral forms known as aragonite, vaterite and calcite. The most stable of the three is calcite, and that is the form of this crystal.
What is gypsum used for in everyday life?
Gypsum uses include: manufacture of wallboard, cement, plaster of Paris, soil conditioning, a hardening retarder in portland cement. Varieties of gypsum known as “satin spar” and “alabaster” are used for a variety of ornamental purposes; however, their low hardness limits their durability.
