Where should the center speaker be on a home theater system?

Most homeowners know that the center speaker should be placed (you guessed it) at the center of the system- either above or below the tv. But all too often we see center speakers sitting on the ground. Why is this a problem?

Why is my Pioneer Elite reciever VSX 27tx not working?

Test noise is set to hightest sub volume, and it shakes the room. But in the THX mode, the sub does not work. I had is then connected to the B speaker outs, and it worked. BUT B shuts off in surround mode. I now have it tied into my A speakers. I have not clue what I missing??? Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
