Which is harder Matterhorn or Eiger?
Both the Matterhorn and Eiger are more difficult still, and are primarily rock climbs, with some steep snow. The challenge on these peaks is to keep to good time while climbing carefully and smoothly. In technical terms the difficulties are not extreme, being only about 5.6 (French 4c).
Is the Eiger hard to climb?
Of the three mountains, the Eiger is the most spectacular, a striking peak from all sides and a worthy climb by any of its many routes, none of which are particularly easy. Classic Route: Fortunately, the Eiger hosts much easier (but not to be underestimated) routes than it’s fearsome North Face.

What type of fitness is required to climb the Eiger?
Obviously great fitness is required for an ascent of the Eiger north face but, unless we are trying to emulate Ueli Steck (which we are not!) then this is more of an endurance / diesel engine style fitness.
